![]() ![]() The Falconeerĭelivering another blow to PS4 and PS5 owners is a statement from Wired Productions’ managing director, Leo Zullo. In fact, everything has been very heavily geared towards the Xbox Series X | S launch of the game, which was delivered to new console owners through Microsoft’s Smart Delivery system. Dogfights unravel in 60FPS for a smooth experience that, unfortunately, PS4 and PS5 owners will have to enjoy in Let’s Play videos and Twitch streams.Īt the time of release, neither Sala nor the game’s publisher, Wired Productions, had anything to say about a PlayStation release of The Falconeer. Unique structures and scattered settlements dot the land below as the Falconeer soars above, bringing the fight to the well-equipped rivals that threaten the sanctity and beauty of the ancient Ursee. However, Microsoft wasn’t the only company dropping a major release that could benefit from an indie-developed, open-world joyride like The Falconeer.Īs players take flight in Sala’s delightful adventure, they’ll guard the skies above the Great Ursee. But is The Falconeer coming to PS5 as well as Xbox Series X | S?ĭeveloped by the solo team of Tomas Sala, creative director at Little Chicken Game Company, The Falconeer released on Steam and Microsoft’s new Xbox Series X | S. The Falconeer literally elevates players as they man the titular Falconeer, an aerial warrior equipped with the latest in avian ranged firepower. You can read our full review here, but Sala has done considerable work since then to improve and grow his game.Video games often take players to new heights, showing them new worlds and vast universes to explore. I do think The Falconeer is going to find an audience that loves it wholeheartedly, but also that there will be plenty of others for whom this falls a bit flat too. I still thoroughly enjoyed my time with the game, but it almost felt like I was doing so in spite of how I felt about the gameplay. I find myself a little perplexed by The Falconeer. Jason reviewed the game upon release and while he enjoyed it and the world it created, the gameplay didn’t quite catch his imagination as much as he hoped it would: Sala has also continued to expand his creation, rebalancing the game’s flight mechanics, improving enemy AI, adding a Kraken, and a whole new piratical faction in Atun’s Folly. The game was created by solo developer Tomas Sala, an impressive achievement considering the size and lore of the game world, the flight mechanics. Neither party has officially confirmed a port to PlayStation, but it would seem that a 9-month console exclusivity period was in place. The game is also available via Xbox Game Pass. The Falconeer was released in November 2020 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC. It will also include “additional content featuring dragons,” which seems to refer to the DLC “ The Hunter” which was the only paid post-release content for the game. The physical edition will have a 38-page digital game guide and include a 29-track digital soundtrack. This isn’t an isolated retailer jumping the gun, as Amazon Japan, Rakuten and Yodobashi all corroborate the release, being published locally by 3goo. It looks like The Falconeer is coming to PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 this summer, as Japanese retailers have listed The Falconeer: Warrior Edition for Sony’s consoles with a release date on 5th August. ![]()
